At The Joyful Jewel, we'll be highlighting the work of a Featured Artist each First Sunday. You can learn directly from the Artist about the history of their creative endeavors, their special techniques, and what inspires them to create.
  
March 2 - Jody Jameson: "Seed Bead Therapy"

Jody's work is very eclectic and fun, using glass seed beads, vintage
beads, metal and anything else that will enhance the piece. She is
inspired by colors in nature, the gray skies of winter, the sunsets
in fall and vivid flowers during spring & summer. Is it "Seed Bead
Therapy" because utilizing the seed beads is therapeutic or because
when you're done you might need therapy?

April 6: Darcy Szeremi- "The Art & Story of Chasing"

Darcy's jewelry is fabricated in sterling, copper & brass.  Each piece is sawed out, soldered,
and usually chased.  Chasing is a process of drawing on metal with a hammer and hand-held
tools.  The color on some of her pieces is resin which is inlayed. Darcy's inspiration comes
"from everywhere."  Some images are from dreams, some from joy and sorrow, and some
from abstract thoughts.  All are done with a semblance of humor and all celebrate life.
 

May 4: Ace and Luna Mountainsea- "Celebration of Nature" featuring Stained Glass Treasures and
NC Drought Photographs

Luna & Ace have two very different ways of celebrating nature in all her aspects.  As Luna says
about nature, "Some has neat smooth edges, some has rough & wild edges."  Luna's freeform swirls
of glass with bits of suspended pieces of natural materials such as spectacular nautilus shells and
stunning stones, and her  sensuous shapes will captivate you.  Ace's photographs of our
local landscape during The Drought show the beauty inherent even in hardship and difficulty.
You'll see once-in-a-lifetime scenes, be filled with awe, and learn to think newly about nature.
